Campus Adventures, a week-long summer day camp at Brevard College, is now accepting applications. This year’s program will take place July 10-14 for rising 1st graders through 7th graders. Campers must have completed kindergarten.

The purpose of Campus Adventures is to provide a fun and educational opportunity for motivated students who want to participate in the learning process, broaden their perspectives and are willing to explore new ideas. The program’s goal is to spark the creative and inquiring spirit in each child and to instill a love of learning and an understanding that education is a lifelong process.

One parent said of their child’s experience: “He loves the outdoor education and playing Quiddich with all the kids. He doesn’t realize he is learning in the fun ‘classes’ they get to choose from.”

“From morning activities to playing in the stream, it was fun beginning to end,” reviewed another parent. “Magic, Bugs, and Harmonica Jam were favorites!”

Campers select classes in advance for their morning session, and then rotate through stations in the afternoon. There are a few new activities to choose from this summer, along with old favorites. Campers will also play in King’s Creek each day.

For students who have aged out of the summer camp experience, there is a teaching assistantship option. Rising 8th through 12th grade students assist the camp director with behind-the-scenes work. Assistants gain leadership skills while helping younger campers get the most out of camp.

“I heard so many kids over the years saying they were sad they wouldn’t be able to come back to the camp next year, so I developed the leadership program for them,” says Camp Director Beth Banks. She has worked with Campus Adventures for 25 years, having served as director for the past 12 years.

Tuition is $200 per camper and $75 for TAs. To register, visit https://brevard.edu/campusadventures/. Those interested can also get updates on the camp Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CampusAdventures) or contact Beth Banks at campusadventures@brevard.edu.
