About Dr. Deborah Belcher, Piano
Deborah holds DMA (Michigan State University), M.M. (Indiana University), and B.S. (Winthrop University) degrees in Piano Performance, and she has studied additionally with Eugene List (The Eastman School of Music) and Robert Goldsand (The Manhattan School of Music). She has taught at Interlochen Arts Academy, Northwestern Michigan College, The Cleveland Institute of Music, and UNC Asheville, and maintains a studio in Asheville, NC, where her enthusiastic class of pianists (ages 7 to late 60’s) ranges from beginners to those performing regionally and competing nationally.
Dr. Belcher, a founding member of Asheville Area Piano Forum, has served as Clinician & Adjudicator for Music Teachers National Association, North Carolina and Tennessee Music Teachers Associations, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and the Canadian Kiwanis Music Festivals, and has performed as recitalist, orchestral soloist, and collaborative pianist in the Eastern US and Canada and on Public Radio & TV.
She seeks to inspire her students to work with appreciation, excellence, mastery, and joy, knowing that they can experience and express these qualities in their playing regardless of level or years of experience!
