About James Ayers
James Ayers is a management professional with leadership experience across multiple sectors. Ayers served in the public sector, including roles as Town Manager in Manteo (NC) and Lewisville (NC), Assistant Town Manager in Bluffton (SC), and Department Director for the City of Asheville (NC). Prior to that Ayers worked in private industry, with nearly twenty years in real estate development and project management, including roles ranging from small business owner to Vice President for a Top 10 national homebuilder. In the non-profit sector, James has served as Chair of the regional workforce board, Vice Chair of a literacy non-profit, and a volunteer with agencies addressing issues ranging from homelessness to education.
