About Dr. Erasme Uyizeye
Dr. Erasme Uyizeye is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies. His research focuses on freshwater ecology and environmental contaminants, with particular emphasis on developing indices to assess freshwater ecosystem health and restoration. His work also includes understanding the fate and transport of contaminants of emerging concern, especially PFAS and microplastics, in aquatic systems. Dr. Uyizeye’s work seeks to promote community engagement and data-driven decisions for effective management and conservation of freshwater ecosystems. Dr. Uyizeye integrates his research interests into his teaching through an interdisciplinary and experiential approach. He teaches a variety of courses including, topics in global sustainability, sustainable communities, environmental law and policy, and climate change. Dr. Uyizeye also mentors students through advanced independent research projects.
