CARES ACT: Federal Emergency Grants Eligibility

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) has provided emergency financial assistance for current Brevard College students.

Brevard College will award these funds to eligible current students when they become available.

The purpose of this federal grant program is to award emergency grants to needy students impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The CARES Act gives institutions like Brevard College great latitude when determining who gets grants, the amount of grant aid the student receives, and who does not receive grant assistance through this program. International students and DACA recipients are not eligible.

Brevard College chose to award the neediest students first as determined by the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

If you and your family have been financially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and did not receive a Federal Emergency Grants award, please complete the appeal form below.

The Business Office will review your appeal application and reach out to you with information about additional financial resources available to you and your family.

Brevard College will not consider athletics leadership, ability, participation or performance as a criterion in the formulation of any financial aid award or financial aid package.

Brevard College signed and returned an acknowledgement to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Brevard College received $391,170 for use in student emergency grants.  The total amount of emergency financial aid grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act was $391,170.  475 out of 640 eligible students were awarded funds.
