About Kati Swinney, aural skills, choral music
Kati Swinney is an alumna of Brevard College where she finished her music education degree.
As a music educator, she took two programs in western North Carolina that were in significant decline and turned them into successful music programs.
While teaching in the public schools, she became interested in music literacy and made that a goal for all of her students. Kati sought out opportunities to work with Carol Krueger, and her progressive sight reading workshops, to develop a curriculum that helped students progress toward proficiency in aural skills.
Because of her focus in this area, we have asked Kati to lead our aural skills program at the college, and she has been an incredible asset to our students.
