Sidewalk Art Competition

Sidewalk Art

Brevard College will host its fourth annual Sidewalk Art Competition on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Robbins Plaza on the BC campus.

Brevard College students, alumni and regional high school students will use chalk to create artwork on the sidewalks at Robbins Plaza, while competing for over $1,000 in cash awards and prizes. Participants were required to submit their ideas in advance and be approved by Brevard College Visual Arts faculty members in order to compete.

The public is encouraged to attend the event to view the live drawings and admire the finished products, as well as enjoy live music and participate in family activities, including a kids’ chalk play area.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to show off their art skills free to the public,” said Brevard College faculty member and event organizer Sean Parrish.

Parrish added that he was inspired by a sidewalk competition from years prior that was held at the Transylvania County Library.

The competition will take place at Robbins Plaza, located between Myers Dining Hall and Bill’s Boiler House, just a short walk from downtown Brevard.
