Brevard College senior goalkeeper Abby Nunez was named USA South Conference Goalkeeper of the Year for the third straight season as the BC women’s soccer program earned six USA South All-Conference honors.
Nunez was one of three named to the All-Conference First Team, joined by teammates Mikayla Rubin and MK Smoak. Natalie DeBella secured All-Conference Second Team honors, while Sienna Fox and Maddy Loranger earned All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Nunez, a native of Homestead, Florida, becomes the first women’s soccer student-athlete to be named USA South Goalkeeper of the Year three consecutive seasons. Nunez was already the only player to collect USA South Goalkeeper of the Year twice, and now adds to that distinction. In just over 1,500 regular season minutes played, Nunez compiled an 11-1-5 record while leading the USA South in the fewest goals allowed (seven), goals-against-average (0.42), save percentage (.897), and shutouts (11). In conference action only, Nunez allowed just four goals, posted a 0.46 goals-against-average, and notched five shutouts. In addition to her standout play in net, Nunez also assisted on three goals during the regular season. For her efforts, Nunez was named the First Team All-Conference goalkeeper for the third consecutive year and three times picked up USA South Defensive Player of the Week honors this year.
In 53 career matches played with 51 starts, Nunez has gone 37-4-10 with 29 solo shutouts, maintaining a career 0.35 goals-against average with 160 saves and a .904 save percentage. The standout has also scored a pair of goals off free kicks and distributed six career assists. Nunez was BC’s first-ever CSC Academic All-American honoree in 2025, securing First Team recognition. In 2026, Nunez currently leads the country with 12 solo shutouts, is top-10 in save percentage (0.900), and ranks top-20 in both goals-against average (0.395) and goalie minutes played (1593:32).
Rubin, a junior midfielder from Boynton Beach, Florida, was the leading goal scorer for the Tornados in the regular season with four before putting in the eventual winner in BC’s first-round victory over Methodist. Rubin has totaled five goals and three assists in 2026, scoring three total match winners.
Smoak, a senior center back from Charleston, South Carolina, has been named either First Team, Second Team, or Honorable Mention all four years at Brevard. The standout defender has been involved in 13 total shutouts in 2026, and 53 total clean sheets over the course of her four-year playing career.
DeBella, a sophomore right back from Buford, Georgia, makes her All-Conference debut on the Second Team. With 17 appearances and 16 starts, DeBella has distributed a team-best four assists and scored a pivotal late goal to earn a draw in the regular season against Greensboro.
Fox, a junior midfielder from Greenville, South Carolina, appears on the All-Conference Team for the first time as an Honorable Mention midfielder. Distributing a pair of assists in 2026, Fox converted a critical penalty in a 2-2 draw vs. Southern Virginia in the regular season.
Loranger, a freshman forward from Mebane, North Carolina, put a hat trick of goals past Salem in the regular season and distributed assists against Methodist and William Peace. The first-year Tornado is one of just three BC student-athletes to appear in all 18 matches in 2026.
The Tornados are gearing up to host their USA South Conference Semifinal match against No. 3 Greensboro on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
