Bailey Blackmon and Caroline Moon racked up double-digit kills as the Brevard College volleyball team (11-12, 8-4 USA South) picked up a USA South Conference victory in straight sets, sweeping Pfeiffer (3-17, 2-11 USAS) 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-23) on Wednesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
The victory improves Brevard’s conference record to 8-4, giving BC its most league wins since 2021, matching the second-highest single-season conference win total in program NCAA-era history.
Brevard opened the first set with a 12-6 lead, but Pfeiffer responded with an 8-0 scoring run. BC then used an 8-0 run of its own to retake the lead, 20-14, eventually closing the frame out by scoring three of the final four points as a Blackmon kill sealed the 25-21 triumph.
BC controlled the second set throughout, earning a nine-point victory, 25-16. BC trailed by two late in the third, 18-16, but flipped the script with a four-point run. With the set all square at 23 points apiece, kills from Moon and Rowan Raney closed out the victory.
Moon led the way for Brevard with 14 kills, while registering nine digs defensively. Blackmon totaled 11 kills and three total blocks, while Emma Fontana notched six total blocks to lead all Tornados. Izzy Boulay distributed a match-high 22 assists, while Gianna Borcich totaled a game-best 21 digs.
The Tornados hit the road on Saturday at 11 a.m., visiting Raleigh, North Carolina, to complete the season series against William Peace.
