Michael Cabrie has been named Head Athletic Trainer at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash. Cabrie will start in his new role at Brevard College on July 8.
“We can’t wait to have Michael on board as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Tornados,” said Myranda Nash, Brevard College Director of Athletics. “Michael’s extensive knowledge of athletic training across a multitude of sports combined with his interpersonal skills will make him an excellent fit. The BC student-athletes will be under the best possible care with Michael and our entire athletic training staff.”
Cabrie arrives at Brevard College, having most recently served as an Athletic Trainer for the Helena Orthopaedic Clinic in Helena, Montana.
“Working at the college level has always been a career goal of mine,” said Cabrie. “The principles of community and family are what grabbed my attention most with Brevard College. I can’t wait to be a part of such a close team.”
At the Helena Orthopaedic Clinic, Cabrie provided athletic training services for all home events at East Helena High School with coverage of ten total sports. Since 2021, he also served as an Athletic Trainer for 22 athletic teams within the Capistrano Unified School District in Mission Viejo, California.
Cabrie began his athletic training career with an internship at Saddleback Community College in California while he worked on a degree in Kinesiology. At Saddleback, he gained clinical experience by working three seasons of football as well as a season with the college’s softball program. Additionally, he worked alongside the sports of baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming and water polo.
He then continued his studies at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado where he gained valuable experience as a student working on the NCAA Division I level with sports such as football, wrestling, volleyball and track & field.
Cabrie holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Northern Colorado and an Associate degree in Kinesiology from Saddleback Community College.
