Brevard College Associate Professor of History, Dr. Jordan Kuck will present ‘’Frozen Conflict’ to Full-Scale War: Explaining the Origins of the War in Ukraine,” a summary of the history of modern Ukraine and analysis of the historical causes of the current war in Ukraine. The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 in Ingram Auditorium in Dunham Hall.
Dr. Kuck teaches courses in modern European and world history. His courses focus on Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, as well as thematic offerings in world history. Dr. Kuck’s research centers on interwar Latvia and the transnational fascist movement in Europe that emerged between the world wars. He earned his PhD in History in 2014 from the University of Tennessee (UT) and taught at West Virginia Wesleyan College before coming to Brevard College in 2018.
In February 2022, Dr. Kuck received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor. He recently finished a book chapter on interwar Latvia in an edited volume, Dictatorship and Daily Life in Twentieth Century Europe, set to be published this year by Bloomsbury. An upcoming book chapter in yet another volume centers on “Transnational Fascism,” a term Dr. Kuck contributed to coining. As a result of Dr. Kuck’s work, he was recently honored at his alma mater, UT, with the Young Alumni Award.
