Late Goal Clinches 1-0 Victory for Womens Soccer

Senior Ashley Hughes came through for the Tornados Women’s Soccer team in their Friday night matchup against the Emory & Henry Wasps.

This about had the makings of Brevard’s final exhibition match-up. The Tornados controlled the shot count for the entirety of the game, outshooting Emory & Henry by a tally of 18 to 7 (10-3 SOG). Hughes found the back of the net unassisted on a loose ball approx. 6 yards from the edge of the box. The 82nd-minute difference maker was Hughes first goal on the year and 7th of her career.

Caroline David and Megan Shina led the way for the Tornados with 6 & 5 shots a piece (4 & 3 SOG). Starting goalie Rebecca Rojas snagged three saves on the night and picked up the win in goal for Brevard. Rojas improves her career record to 10-5-1 and earns her third career shutout.

Plenty of Tornados saw their first career action dawning the blue and black, including Alyssa HetheringtonAliyah VaughanChloe Proffitt, and Abbie Petrosky.
