Baseball CSC

A program-best five student-athletes from the Brevard College baseball team have been named 2022-23 Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).  Brevard College baseball student-athletes Trenten Anderson, Blake Burchett, Cameron Cook, Lucas Granata and Cesar Rodriguez were all named to the Academic All-District team for the 2022-23 season.  All five Tornados now advance to the ballot for the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-America team.

The Academic All-District team is part of the Academic All-America program that has been honoring outstanding academic and athletic achievement by student-athletes throughout the landscape of college sports since 1952.  The CSC Academic All-America Baseball teams will be announced in June.

Anderson, a graduating senior from Orange City, Florida, recently earned a Bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude in Environmental Science with a minor in Business and Organizational Leadership from Brevard College.  Anderson, an ace starting pitcher for the Tornados, led the team with 67 strikeouts, 73 innings pitched, and two complete games, including a shutout in 2023.

Burchett, hailing from Mooresville, North Carolina, graduated this month Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in Sustainability.   Burchett, the nation’s leader in stolen bases as a junior, ranked fifth in all of NCAA Division III with 36 stolen bases (.97 per game) as a senior in 2023.

A native of Mount Holly, North Carolina, Cook is a junior majoring in Physical Education and Recreation.  In addition to his excellence in the classroom, Cook was a valuable part of the Tornado pitching staff in 2023 with 12 appearances including six starts.

Granata, a sophomore outfielder from Wake Forest, North Carolina, is majoring in Business and Organizational Leadership.  In 2023, Granata led the Tornados with a .381 batting average to go along with a .974 fielding percentage.

Rodriguez is a junior left-handed pitcher from Hialeah, Florida who majors in Exercise Science.  Rodriguez made 12 appearances and one start in 2023 with a 3.77 ERA and earned the victory with four shutout innings in BC’s win over William Peace in the USA South Conference tournament.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
