This is the last week to register for Brevard College’s upcoming Campus Adventures Summer Enrichment Experience for young children.
The Campus Adventures program, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon from July 22-26 on the Brevard College campus, provides an educational opportunity for motivated students who are entering grades one through six, who want to participate in the learning process, broaden their perspectives and are willing to explore new ideas.
Limited space is still available for rising first through third graders in the camp’s Harmonica Jam; Jump Start; and Fur, Feathers & Fins adventure sessions. A few remaining spaces are also available for rising fourth through sixth graders in the camp’s Animal World; Science Sleuths; Drumming with Jeff Sipe; and Clayworks sessions.
The week-long program will conclude with a special student presentation and performance for family and friends at noon on Friday, July 26.
Students who participate in the morning sessions may extend their camp days by also enrolling in Afternoon Adventures, which runs from noon until 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Afternoon sessions include a mix of arts & crafts, science, journaling, and learning about animals. Campers will also have a chance to explore visible and invisible stream life. Afternoon participants must bring a bag lunch and water bottle as well as footwear for wading in water.
Teens who may have “aged out” of Campus Adventures have an opportunity to participate in a Teaching Assistantship available for students in seventh through 12th grade. Led by Camp Director Beth S. Banks, the Teaching Assistantship offers students a chance to see what it takes to be a leader and how to organize group activities. Students will also have an opportunity to assist in a few classes, gain leadership experience and help younger campers get the most out of their Campus Adventure experience. Details on the Teaching Assistantship will be given during a mandatory participant orientation meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16.
Registration for Campus Adventures is $90 per students for a half day and $150 for a full day. Registration for the Teaching Assistantship is $60.
