The Brevard College men’s soccer team (4-1) kept the superb start to its 2026 campaign rolling, defeating Berea (3-3-2), 2-0 on Senior Day Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
The Tornados cruised to victory despite a near two-and-a-half hour lightning delay that pushed the start time from 3 p.m. to around 5:30 p.m.
Prior to the start of the match, Brevard honored its 12-member senior class with a special Senior Day ceremony, as BC’s Vitor Razera, Henrique Ramos Oliveira, Roi Abutbul, Guilherme Barcelos, Eran Nasseraldeen, Jose Felipe Garces, Matteo Nioi, Owen McCabe, Imanol Chavez, Caleb Borchelt, Jacob Stephens, and Julian Martin were all recognized
The Tornados pushed ahead in the 32nd minute when Barcelos put away his fourth goal of the year. Barcelos played a through ball directed towards Martin, but the pass was deflected by Berea’s keeper. Barcelos hustled after the loose ball and slotted a shot into the nylon to give the Tornados the early advantage.
Brevard added insurance in the 76th minute through Enrique Sosa, who dispossessed the Berea defense and scored without issue, doubling the Tornado lead.
Berea generated 14 shots but managed just one on target. The Mountaineers’ best opportunity came early, when they earned a penalty in the 10th minute, but Brevard goalkeeper Soren Deweer stopped the attempt to preserve the clean sheet and set the tone for the remainder of the match.
Brevard held a slim 15-14 edge in total shots and a 5–1 advantage in shots on goal. The Tornados utilized 26 different players in the victory.
BC will travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia, on Tuesday, September 22 at 5 p.m. to face Covenant.
