White Earns First Team All-Conference as Three Tornados Honored by USA South

Graduate infielder Emily White was selected to the USA South Conference Softball All-Conference First Team, as three Brevard College softball student-athletes earned postseason honors from the USA South.

White earned All-Conference First Team honors as well as a selection onto the West Division First Team. Junior infielder Mikayla Morgan was voted onto the West Division Second Team, while freshman catcher Sara Barnes was nominated to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.

White, who recently became the inaugural graduate of a master’s program at Brevard College, wrapped up her storied career at BC with a stellar season that resulted in All-Conference First Team and West Division First Team at-large honors at the third-base position. White led the conference with a .526 batting average and led the nation across all divisions for much of the 2022 season, currently sitting in sixth place in all of NCAA DIII in batting average. The graduate student closed her career with one of her most productive seasons at BC, totaling 40 hits, 11 doubles, 19 runs scored, and 16 RBIs with a .554 on-base percentage and a .776 slugging percentage. White accumulated 166 hits, 90 runs scored, 41 doubles, 11 triples, 10 home runs, 93 RBIs, and a career .427 batting average over the course of 130 games played in five seasons at BC. White is BC’s leader in all major hitting categories in the DIII-era, and owns the overall program career records for batting average (.427), slugging percentage (.666), on-base percentage (.474), and triples (11) and is in second place in RBIs (93), runs scored (90), hits (166), and doubles (41).

Morgan, turned in a stellar season of her own, batting .390 with a .420 on-base percentage and a .671 slugging percentage, which ranked second on the team. Morgan racked up 32 hits – 16 of which being of the extra-base variety (10 doubles, five triples, one home run) – and drove in 19 RBIs with 10 runs scored.

Barnes, saw action in five games, going 2-for-6 at the plate with a triple and a run scored – both coming in a 4-3 home victory over Maryville College.

The BC softball team wrapped up its 2022 season with eight wins, as four came in USA South Conference play. Highlight victories included walk-off victories against Pfeiffer (4-3, Feb. 15), Maryville (4-3, April 20), and a thrilling Senior Day victory over Wesleyan College on April 23, 4-2.
