The defending USA South Conference champion Brevard College women’s soccer team was selected as the league favorite in the annual USA South Preseason Coaches Poll.
The ranking marks the first time in program history that the Tornados were selected first in the preseason tabulation. This comes on the heels of Brevard College’s historic 2024 campaign where the Tornados went unbeaten through 18 matches (15-0-3), finishing the year as one of only six college soccer programs across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA with an unblemished mark.
Brevard was placed atop the rankings thanks to receiving 77 total points and five of the possible ten first place votes. The Tornados finished last season without a regular season conference loss en route to an 8-0-1 record. Southern Virginia came in second in the voting with 71 points and three first place nods. Rounding out the top-three of the preseason poll was the defending conference tournament champions, Methodist, who gathered 69 points and the final two first place votes.
Since the first USA South women’s soccer preseason poll in 2003, the program picked to capture the title has done so just nine times. Conversely, the team picked second has won the conference championship seven times, including the past two seasons.
The 2025 USA South Women’s Soccer Tournament will once again be conducted exclusively on campus sites. The top-eight seeded teams will advance to the tournament which will begin with first round action on Saturday, November 1. The semifinals will take place Wednesday, November 5 with the finals occurring on Saturday, November 8. The higher-seeded team in each contest will host that particular match.

The Tornados conclude their preseason this Saturday at 6 p.m. with a scrimmage against Furman United at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Brevard will open up its regular season on Tuesday, September 2 at 3 p.m. with a home match against Alice Lloyd College.
