Brevard College’s successful transition into the NCAA Division III increased enrollment numbers, student retention, and equal competition among the teams. The move to NCAA DIII allows Brevard College to further meet its mission focused on experiential, liberal arts.

Brevard College joined the USA South Conference in 2017. This conference aligned Brevard College with institutions with similar enrollments, academic programs, and athletic programs.

Becoming a new member of almost anything brings change. Brevard College is home to 402 student athletes, and 21 varsity sports. Seven of these student athletes are golfers for the Men’s and Women’s Varsity Golf team. Three of the seven golf student athletes are on pace to graduate from Brevard College in Spring of 2019.

The USA South Conference does not offer women’s golf as a championship sport. Brevard College decided equitably to discontinue the golf programs after the 2018-2019 season.

This change will allow the college to increase the experience of the other 19 athletic programs. The current golf student athletes are encouraged to create an intramural, and/or club sport so they may continue to pursue their passions.

Brevard College is consistently recognized as one of the best liberal arts colleges. The College’s focus on experiential learning, small class sizes, and location the mountains of Western North Carolina near Asheville makes Brevard a top choice college for students around the world.
