Brevard College recently received a grant from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation to provide scholarships for women student leaders at the college. The grant marks the college’s 36th year of partnership with the Foundation in helping to educate southern, Christian women.

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation devotes the majority of its resources to providing scholarship grants for deserving female students with financial need at more than 200 colleges, universities and schools. The Foundation is inspired by the life of Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans, an extraordinary philanthropist and entrepreneur who served for two decades on the board of directors of the Coca-Cola Company.  Mrs. Whitehead Evans was one of the first women to serve on the board of directors for any major American corporation and believed strongly in education for women.

Brevard College is thankful to the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation for their longstanding support and belief in the mission and work of the college. This year will mark a milestone of $3,000,000 in cumulative support from the Foundation.

“The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is a critical partner in helping Brevard College achieve our goal of educating the next generation of servant leaders. Their investment in women on our campus is transformative in helping to close the divide on gender inequalities and inspiring our students to live a life of service like Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans,” said President David Joyce.
