Doug Miller has worked in several roles during his career at Brevard College, which began in 2015 and continues to this day. He now seeks to add public service to his resume’ as a candidate in the 2020 Transylvania County Commissioner race. Miller started his tenure at Brevard College in the Information Technology department.
“I worked with faculty helping them get the most out of their technology,” said Miller. “I helped many staff members and students as well. It was a great job because I was able to interact with everyone on campus”.
Today, Miller works in the Public Information Office using tools such as mobile apps and digital displays to communicate with students, staff, and faculty. Miller is also teaching an IT course this fall as an Adjunct Faculty member.
“I really love the roles that I am in at the moment,” said Miller. “The campus has been moving in a good direction and I am so honored to be a part of it.”
Miller attributes much of the positive momentum to Brevard College President Dr. David Joyce.
“David and his wife Lynne have been a blessing to this campus,” continued Miller. “They’ve created an atmosphere that fosters growth, not just for students, but for the entire community.”
Dr. Joyce stated he is proud to have a candidate working at the college.
“Brevard College’s motto is Learn in Order to Serve,” said Dr. Joyce. “I can think of nothing more emblematic of that than running for a public service position.”
Dr. Joyce also notes the college’s commitment to serving local students.
“Our Admissions office has done an amazing job providing steep tuition discounts and scholarships to local students,” said Joyce. “We’re invested in this community and the people who live here.”
