Athletic Director Juan Mascaro has announced that the Brevard College Athletic Department has extended and expanded its partnership with Ingles Markets for the 2015-2016 academic year.

“We are extremely fortunate to have a corporate partner like Ingles Markets that is invested both in our community and the success of Brevard athletics,” said Mascaro. “They have been a tremendous partner in the past and are committing even more resources to our athletic department and the school as a whole this year. We’re so thankful for the opportunities that this partnership provides to our institution.”

“Ingles is thrilled to be a part of Brevard College athletics,” added Ingles Director of Advertising Melissa Leavell. “We are especially excited about the opportunity to make game day more exciting and enhance the experience for fans of all ages.”

The centerpiece of the sponsorship agreement is the addition of four televised games, all of which will appear on WMYA My40, to this year’s schedules. The first two televised events will be football contests. The Tornados will host Limestone in the schools’ first-ever meeting on October 17 at 7:00 p.m. before the season finale featuring Brevard against rival Mars Hill on November 14 in a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.

“We are airing five locally-produced college football games this year and, for the first time ever, are expanding to air high school football in primetime in both North and South Carolina,” said Jack Connors, general manager of WMYA and WLOS. “This gives us a total of 20 local college and high school broadcasts this year. We are expanding our commitment to being this area’s home for local sports, and we are delighted to once again serve as the television home of the Brevard Tornados.”

The network will also televise a basketball doubleheader for the third consecutive year. The opponent will be announced at a later date. Brevard returns to the airwaves on the same network that has shown all eight of Brevard’s previous televised sporting events. The Tornados have compiled a 4-4 record across all sports in televised contests, with the women’s basketball team sporting a perfect 2-0 mark.

In addition to televising four events, Ingles placed a heavy emphasis on enhancing the gameday environment through this year’s sponsorship agreement. Ingles will provide several giveaway items for fans at Brevard football and basketball contests and will revamp the Tornado Club hospitality area at football games this fall. The newly-created Tornado Alley will be unveiled at Brevard’s first home game against Bowie State on September 12 and will be located inside the old gym adjacent to Memorial Stadium at Brevard High School.

Enhancements are also planned for Boshamer Gymnasium. The agreement provides funds for interior walls to be outfitted with large wall decals stretching along the hallway that leads to the coaches’ offices at either end of the building. The lobby area will feature a permanent schedule display with switchable plates to display in-season sports.

Ingles has agreed to provide catering at Tornado Alley for all five Brevard home football games and half of the Tornados’ home basketball schedule. The company will also cover the cost of printing Brevard’s fan guides and provide giveaways to students including beach towels, drink koozies, ID holders that can be clipped to the back of cell phones, and I Heart BC Day t-shirts.
