To our 2020 Graduates,
The safety and wellbeing of our students, faculty, and staff has always been a priority in all of our decisions. Given the limitations and precautions of North Carolina’s status and current phase restrictions along with the logistics of having guests and students return to campus, we cannot in good faith have an in-person Commencement celebration and ceremony as originally planned for September 18-20th, 2020.
After considering many factors, accommodations, and creative ideas, we must acknowledge the fine balance between wanting to honor you, our graduates, and being accountable to keep you and the community safe. We cannot guarantee your wellbeing were we to gather in person at this time. We have come to the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 Commencement previously scheduled in September. However, we want to celebrate the hard work it took to reach this milestone, so we have come up with a plan to do just that. We will instead celebrate our seniors through a virtual Commencement Ceremony after the conclusion of the fall semester in December. We also invite our spring, summer, and fall 2020 graduates to join in walking during the 2021 Commencement Ceremony in May pending the status of the pandemic.
We will be in touch very soon with more information as we prepare for the Virtual 2020 Commencement.
Stay safe and be well,
The Brevard College Commencement Team
