In the midst of a global pandemic with limited opportunities for fundraising, The Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program continues to invest in local Transylvania County residents pursuing degrees at Brevard College. This year marks 34 years of scholarship assistance provided by Connestee Falls to local students at the college.
The Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program started in 1987 as a local golf tournament that raised $5,000 in its first year. The organization’s original ambition to raise enough funds for a single student’s scholarship has been far surpassed as the group has gone on to give more than $1 million in financial aid. Today, the program has supported students’ ambitions to attend Brevard College, Blue Ridge Community College, and institutions of higher learning across the country. In the 2020-2021 academic year, five of the student recipients are enrolled at Brevard College.
“It is so meaningful that the residents of Connestee Falls and of our community, are working so hard to raise money to support my education. Their passion and dedication is so inspiring that I hope I’m able to do the same one day,” said Anthony Martino, a Connestee Falls Scholarship recipient at Brevard College.
This generosity exhibits true determination by the Connestee Falls residents to be able to raise funds despite the challenging circumstances over the past year. The college celebrates their success and appreciates the investment they make in our local students. Brevard College thanks the Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program for working tirelessly to provide opportunity to the students of Transylvania County.
