Brevard College faculty pianists Richard Riccardi and Vance Reese will perform a concert on Sunday afternoon, September 11 at 3:00 in the Porter Center. The program is titled “Dances for Universal Peace,” and it includes twelve dances from various countries, ranging from pavanes to sambas. The program intends to draw attention to the human need to dance with one another rather than making war.
The recital will be played on two pianos, with composers ranging from Johann Strauss, Jr. (“The Waltz King”), Dvořák, and Brahms, to Americans Cole Porter, Aaron Copland, and William Grant Still. Some pieces will be known to the audience, and all of them should have a familiar sound.
The concert is free and open to the public.
