Brevard College women’s basketball student-athletes Josie Hester and Chyna Pouncey were recently named 2023-24 Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
The Academic All-District team is part of the Academic All-America program that has been honoring outstanding academic and athletic achievement by student-athletes throughout the landscape of college sports since 1952. The Women’s Basketball Academic All-America teams will be announced next month.
Hester is a junior guard from Huntersville, North Carolina who is a Business and Organizational Leadership major at Brevard. Hester led the Tornados in scoring (13.5 ppg), free throw percentage (.857) and three-pointers made (55) in 2023-24.
A senior from Dillon, South Carolina, Pouncey is set to graduate from Brevard College with a degree in Business and Organizational Leadership. Pouncey led BC in total rebounds (117) and offensive rebounds (47) this season.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
