Pianist Kwan Yi will return to the Porter Center for a concert on Monday, October 31 at 12:30 pm. Yi is a professor of piano at Eastern Carolina University’s School of Music, and he is touring with two of his students, Ritchie Bui and Jared Yoakem. The three will perform a varied program of music by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Debussy and Dvorak. The concert will include solos and pieces for four hands.
Kwan Yi is a former concerto winner at the Brevard Music Center and was educated at Juilliard, the Curtis Institute, and the Peabody Conservatory. He has performed in venues including Carnegie Hall and the Library of Congress, and has soloed with the Russian National Orchestra and the Houston Symphony Orchestra. His students have also won multiple awards and performed widely. Their Monday concert is free and open to the public.
