The Brevard College Theatre and Music Departments are pleased to present “Some Enchanted Evening, The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein,” a musical revue composed by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and concept by Jeffrey B. Moss. Performances are Friday and Saturday, March 27 – 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the Ingram Auditorium at Brevard College.
“This production represents a unique collaboration between Brevard College’s Theatre and Music Departments,” said Catherine Barracklow, an adjunct professor of theatre at Brevard College. “Students have been hard at work to bring this well-loved musical classic to the stage.”
While artfully piecing together the songs from American classic musicals such as South Pacific, Oklahoma, The Sound of Music and Cinderella, the contexts of the original works have been adapted to portray a group of five performers who connect with each other through a set of intimate, yet entertaining numbers. The production is an elegant showcase of these favorite musical theatre tunes and is sure to transport audiences on a theatrical journey, invoking the feel-good nature of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s work that fans love so dearly.
The show is under the direction of guest artist Peter Savage and musical direction and choreography of guest artist Wendy Jones. The cast includes Brevard College students Lily Bartleson, Raquan Edwards, Molly Ledford, Hunter Rogers and Alex Webster. Scenic and lighting elements will be designed by Brevard College Assistant Professor Andrea Boccanfuso, with costumes by Ida Bostian.
Tickets are $5 and available online at etix.com, Southern Comfort Records in Brevard or one hour before each show at the door.
