Brevard College alum Will Crowder from the Charlotte area, class of 2002, created an endowed scholarship to honor three classmates who have passed away. Once fully funded, the Pinkerton/Hyde/Connolly Lee Scholarship will be available for award to a full-time Brevard College student serving in a leadership role and preferably studying the visual arts.
The memorial scholarship honors Warner Hyde (art major), class of ‘01, Stephanie Connolly Lee (organizational leadership major), class of ‘01, and Ben Pinkerton, a goalie on the men’s soccer team, class of ‘98. Crowder had been friends with them, and wanted to remember their impact on the college in a meaningful way.
“Classmates at Brevard College end up being more like family,” Crowder said. “That is why I am pleased to establish a scholarship to honor the lives of Ben, Warner and Stephanie. These individuals all had a profound impact on our class. It is my hope that this scholarship will help future students experience the life changing effects of an education at Brevard College.”
Jeff Joyce, Director of Alumni Affairs at Brevard College, said, “Relationships play a profound role in the Brevard College experience. It is always an honor to be able to help alumni celebrate the relationships they had at Brevard while helping future students have the same amazing experience.”
