Brevard College baseball freshman Cale Oehler and Noah Webb swept the USA South Conference’s Rookie awards after stellar performances in last week’s contests. Oehler was named Rookie of the Week, while Webb was selected as Rookie Pitcher of the Week.
Oehler, went a combined 5-for-9 (.556) with a .714 on-base percentage, and a .778 slugging percentage to go along with one run scored, one run batted in, two doubles, and five walks as the Tornados posted a 2-1 record last week. In a 10-5 victory over Case Western Reserve, Oehler was 3-for-4 with one run scored, one run batted in, one double, and one walk.
Oehler, who also pitches and is listed as an outfielder, is 18-for-53 (.340) with seven runs, six doubles, and 18 RBI through the first 17 games of 2022. He leads the Tornados in doubles and is second in RBI on the team.
Webb, earned a win in two relief appearances last week for the Tornados. Webb tossed a total of 5.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits and one walk with three strikeouts. His victory came over Case Western Reserve when pitched three shutout innings of relief, allowing three hits and one walk with one strikeout.
Webb has a 3.00 ERA through five appearances this season with three strikeouts, allowing just three earned runs.
Oehler, Webb, and the rest of the Brevard College baseball team (11-6) open USA South Conference play this weekend, hosting a three-game series against Maryville College (8-4) that is slated to begin on Friday at 3 p.m. at Gil Coan Field.
