Freshman infielder Frankie Vasquez garnered his second USA South Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week accolade of the 2022 season following a big weekend as the Brevard College baseball team took two-out-of-three from Averett University.
Vasquez, who was awarded his first USA South Rookie of the Week honor on February 14, went a combined 7-for-12 (.583) with a .500 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, four RBI, two doubles, and his first career home run as the Tornados took two of three games from Averett last week. The native of Pembroke Pines, Florida is currently batting .405 at the plate (17-for-42) with 10 runs scored, nine RBI, three doubles and a home run.
Brevard (10-5) will match up in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against Pfeiffer University beginning at 1 p.m. in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
