Women’s Lacrosse: Collins, Maclauchlin Take Home USA South Awards

 Senior midfielder KC Collins and freshman goalkeeper Lexi Maclauchlin both were awarded weekly honors from the USA South Conference after Brevard’s season-opening 21-3 triumph over Sweet Briar College on Saturday. 

Collins was selected as Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while Maclauchlin earned Defensive Player of the Week plaudits. 

Collins, a native of Marietta, Georgia, established new career-highs with six goals and four assists to go alongside five ground balls, a draw control, and a caused turnover. The senior led all goal-scorers in the contest. 

Maclauchlin, hailing from McDonough, Georgia, turned in an impressive collegiate debut, holding Sweet Briar to just three goals while making seven saves. 

Collins and Maclauchlin return to play on Wednesday when the Tornados host Alma College at 5 p.m.
