Brevard College enrolled a record number of new students for this fall semester, according to college officials. The College also exceeded expectations for overall enrollment.
For the Fall semester of 2017, Brevard College enrolled 677 students and projected a Fall 2018 enrollment of 680 students. This fall, the enrollment number will exceed 700 students.
New student enrollments number 311, including first-year students and new transfer students, which is the largest new student enrolling class in the College’s history as a 4-year institution.
“The enrollment numbers suggest that more and more high school students and their parents realize the benefit of an experiential, liberal arts education that Brevard College offers,” said Dr. David Joyce, President of Brevard College.
Brevard College has seen recent changes in the last several years including a refocusing of the College’s mission on experiential teaching and learning, changing from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division III, and adding several new academic programs including Applied Physics and Agricultural Education.
The College has also undergone significant facility improvements including the opening of a new residence hall and coffee shop, extensive improvements to athletic facilities including a new turf field, and widespread improvements to classrooms and academic buildings.
A Half-Tuition Scholarship, offered to students from local mountain counties including Transylvania, also contributed to the increase in student enrollments.
“The College understands that affordability and costs are a major concern for students and their parents. We’re committed to making Brevard College affordable for students who really want to be here,” said R. Chad Holt, Vice President of Admissions and Financial Aid.
Brevard College is an experiential, liberal arts college committed to student success and artistic, intellectual, and social action.
