Brevard College Theatre is proud to present Constellations by Nick Payne. This touching story features Brevard College students Calliope Taylor ‘28 playing Marianne (a cosmologist and professor at Cambridge) and Dusk Xenalia ’29 as Roland (a beekeeper). The show will run Thursday, February 19 through Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Morrison Playhouse at the Paul Porter Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Brevard College.
Directed by senior Brevard College Theatre student Roxxanne Petryshak, Constellations is a story of love, fate, and chance. This story spans over many universes, from as few as a bag of Skittles to as many as there are stars in the sky. As the audience experiences a glimpse into these two characters’ lives, the journey is taken of “what is life?” together – the ups and downs, the hard parts and the easy, and everything in between. The human experience ends in something some find terrifying or painful, but what comes before can be so beautiful. It is this dichotomy which the Constellations audience encounters in the show.
“We have all the time we’ve always had…there’s not going to be any more or less of it.” – Marianne, Constellations.
Constellations contains adult language, talk of medically assisted suicide, worsening health, and death. This show runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission. Ticket prices are $15 for the general public and $5 for students, faculty and staff. Tickets can be purchased online at our.show/brevard-college/constellations or at the door, if available.
Brevard College is located at One Brevard College Drive in Brevard, North Carolina. More information can be found at brevard.edu/theatre or by calling (828) 641-0166.
