The A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute will perform a concert on Sunday afternoon, November 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Porter Center. The Fletcher Opera Institute is a rigorous pre-professional graduate program at UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, whose graduates go on to sing in major opera companies in the U.S. and abroad. Sunday’s performance will feature six singers with light staging and piano accompaniment. The program will include arias and duets from well-known operas, as well as some standards from the American Songbook.
“This concert will be a wonderful opportunity for our voice students to hear and interact with singers further down the path toward a professional career,” says Fine Arts Division Chair Kathryn Gresham. “Those in our community who enjoy the aria nights and revues produced by the Janiec Opera Company in the summer will definitely want to attend!” Sunday’s concert is free and open to the public.
