Brevard College’s Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education (or WLEE) department will host the 22nd annual Adventure Education Conference on Friday, November 7 on the Brevard College campus from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The conference aims to provide outdoor education students and professionals with the opportunity to learn through presentations, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
This year’s theme, developed by the College’s Outdoor Program Administration class, is “Adventure is the Journey.” Events will focus on how adventure enthusiasm and a “sense of journey” in the outdoors can greatly enhance experiential education methods. The conference highlight is a keynote presentation from Brevard College graduate and successful local outdoor business owner Sara Bell at 9:30 AM. Bell is a 2002 WLEE program graduate and owner of Green River Adventures and The Gorge Zipline.
Conference registration includes a continental breakfast and a boxed lunch, over fifteen workshops, a raffle, and an exhibition of local vendors. Workshops range from innovate games and team building initiatives to unique adventure education program models and topics.
Pre-registration is $25 for students and $30 for non-students, including all meals. Registration the day of the event at the Porter Center is $35 with no meals guaranteed.
