Cindy Bryson has been on the staff at Brevard College for 12 years. Born in Florida, she moved to Brevard at age 10. She previously worked as the Executive Director of the Transylvania County American Red Cross for 20 years as well as at a local daycare and accounting firm. In her current role as Registration Operations Specialist in the Registrar’s Office, Cindy serves Brevard College students with her efficiency and kindness.
While at the Red Cross, she taught children how to swim, taught First Aid and CPR, Lifeguard and Disaster courses, and was on call to respond to local house fires, search and rescue missions, and to open and run shelters during times of disaster in the county as well as recruiting blood donors and sponsors for blood drives. Cindy has dedicated her life to serving the Brevard community. “I have been very blessed to have jobs and life events that have enabled me to help others,” Cindy said. “The Lord has blessed my life by placing me in jobs that give me the ability to help others and receive joy in the giving.”
Having met the love of her life early on, Cindy and her husband Jim have been married for 46 years. They have two sons and six grandchildren. In their spare time, Cindy and Jim share a passion for a style of partner dance called Carolina Shag. They teach others the dance style at Blue Ridge Community College. “Carolina Shag can be challenging to learn but never gets boring,” Cindy said. “I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way.”
At Brevard College, Cindy values her relationships with co-workers and recently learned a new Student Information System tool to help digitize student records in the Registrar’s Office. “I am always learning new things, especially with technology. So it keeps my mind active,” she said. “I have met many new friends that are now part of my life.”
