Soprano Ann Marie Bates will present her senior voice recital at Brevard College’s Porter Center
for Performing Arts on Thursday, March 23 at 7:30. The program will include music by Bach,
Vivaldi and Brahms, as well as two contemporary Japanese art songs and two original pieces by
faculty composer-pianist Richard Riccardi, set to poems by Ms. Bates.
An avid writer, Ms. Bates participated in last summer’s Looking Glass Rock Writer’s conference
and has published multiple poems in the Chiaroscuro, Brevard College’s literary magazine. She
is completing an independent research project on the works of Vivaldi, to be presented on
campus next month.
In addition to Mr. Riccardi, who will accompany his songs, Ms. Bates will be joined by pianist
and organist Michael Helman, violinist Kristine Fink Candler, and soprano Mackenzie Douglas
for her recital. The program is free and open to the public.
