About the Wilderness Leadership & Experiential Education Program

Brevard College's WLEE Program exposes you to a multitude of potential career settings to help you decide your path.

 

WLEE graduates are prepared for a wide range of fields and professions. For example:
  • Entrepreneur, Owner/Operator
  • City or County Parks & Recreation
  • US Forest Service or National Park Service
  • Military Recreation (Army MWR, etc.)
  • Professional Climbing Guides
  • Environmental Educator
  • Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare
  • Veterans programming
  • Adaptive recreation
  • Community Development
  • Wilderness Therapy
  • You'll learn by doing. Immerse yourself with at least 35 overnights in the field, learning to lead and instruct technical activities like backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking and canoeing, mountain biking, and caving. 

  • You'll gain marketable skills. You'll learn how to organize, manage, and lead a high-functioning team. You'll learn to teach well, plan logistics efficiently, and manage risk effectively.

  • You'll live and learn in a distinct outdoor environment. You'll have class on local rivers and the Atlantic coast, at Looking Glass Rock in Pisgah National Forest or on the bike trails in DuPont State Forest!

 

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Wilderness Leadership & Experiential Education (WLEE).  Minor in Outdoor Education.
