Four Tornados Awarded Academic All-District Honors by CSC

Four Brevard College softball student-athletes were honored for their academic efforts by College Sports Communicators, as the quartet of Alyssa Boris, Andrea Furr, Gabby Hooper, and Rylee Locklear earned Academic All-District Team accolades. Boris, Furr, and Locklear make their CSC debuts, while Hooper garners her third Academic All-District accolade of her career. 

The Academic All-District team is part of the Academic All-America program that has been honoring outstanding academic and athletic achievement by student-athletes throughout the landscape of college sports since 1952.   The Softball Academic All-America teams will be announced next month.

Boris, a rising junior from Huger, South Carolina, appeared 26 times for the Tornados with 23 starts in 2025, batting .274 with 17 hits, six RBIs, and five runs scored. Academically, Boris is currently working towards a degree in Exercise Science

Furr, another rising junior Tornado from Richfield, North Carolina, served as the primary 3B for BC in 2025, appearing 24 times with 22 starts. Furr went 24-for-58 at the dish (.414) to lead all Tornados, while also leading all Brevard players with eight doubles, a 1.004 OPS, and a .552 slugging percentage. Furr is pursuing a Biology degree at Brevard College. 

Hooper, a three-time CSC honoree and recent graduate of BC, appeared in 27 games with 25 starts for the Tornados. BC’s primary shortstop, Hooper led the squad defensively with 56 assists. Hooper graduated Magna Cum Laude from BC’s honors program with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science

Locklear, a rising junior from nearby Candler, North Carolina, made 27 total starts in 2025, batting .234 with 15 hits, nine RBIs, eight runs scored, and five doubles. The Enka HS product is currently working towards a Criminal Justice degree from BC. 

The 2024-25 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
